Here’s what you need to know about the programme as this year’s instalment is now officially launched!

CIMB launched the next instalment of its The Complete Banker Programme (TCB) Digital on 22 January and GRADUAN® was there to witness it. Held at Level 31, Menara CIMB at KL Sentral, the launch of this flagship development programme was attended by reps from the Ministry of Education, Institutes of higher learnings, Government agencies, professional bodies and graduate partners.

This year, the theme is “Build Codes, Solve Problems and Have FunD”. The one-year-programme is targeted at fresh graduates with technology related backgrounds in their fields of study. During the course of the programme, selected talent will work on helping CIMB revolutionise the banking industry through its digital transformation initiatives.

Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin, Group Chief People Officer at CIMB Bank, who was there to officiate the programme, shared with guests the early beginnings of CIMB Management Programmes and other products including the evolution of the 3D Academy. During her presentation, we learnt that TCB was initially designed to equip talent with knowledge across the banking sectors while the CIMB Fu2ion focused on diversity beyond banking, inviting talent from various education backgrounds to pursue a career with CIMB.

With the recent trends of market disruption and increased competition, Dato Hamidah explained that the bank is working towards adapting its programmes to meet these challenges. “We’re not just competing with other banks but also with so many other organisations,” she exclaimed.

During the launch, four TCB Alumni – Kyle Choo, Wendy Koh, Hafsah Safeen and Charoogesinee Radhakrishnan – shared their experience with guests. One thing they all agreed on was how the bank’s working culture that thrives on respect, integrity and inclusiveness encouraged them to stay on with the financial institution after graduating from the programme.

Guests were then treated to a short tea break where they could mingle with one another before Liza Sahar, Head of Regional Talent Acquisition, took the stage to share details of TCB Digital as well as the upcoming 3D Conquest.

This is the first graduate management trainee programme by a bank that targets fresh graduates with technical backgrounds. “This is part of our digital transformation and we’ve been seeking quality graduates of strong technical backgrounds; we know they’re out there!” explained Rohaidah Maskuri, Director of Regional Talent Acquisition. “One of the most attractive aspects of this programme is the opportunity to be involved in high impact projects particularly in digital and technology areas,” she added.

Interested to join TCB Digital? Here’s what you need to know:

You’re Perfect for the Programme if…
Liza explains that "Graduates from technology related area of studies like computer science, data analytics and cybersecurity, to name a few, are the kinds of talents we need to attract,"

"Practically everything is online and being digitised. Not just banking but other sectors as well. Because of this, we need these talent to grow and help revolutionise the banking industry.” She added.

More Than Just Technical Skills…
Technical skills alone won’t get talents the job though; talents are expected to have a sense of teamwork. Liza explains that “at CIMB, it’s very important for you to ‘play’ well with others to make sure that everyone works to the same objective. You don’t just work with other people in your team but with other parts of CIMB. On top of that, communication is key but we’re willing to help groom talent in that respect.” Qualities expected from talent include a strong passion for technology, agility, versatility and dynamism.
