Habits You Should Get Rid Of

By Hannah Dania

You might think it’s just part of the routine, but it’s actually eating you inside out.

Life's a rollercoaster, isn't it? One minute, you're scrolling through TikTok, and the next, you're wondering why you haven't achieved all those ambitious goals you set. Well, I hate to break it to you, but there might be some secret habits hiding in plain sight that are low-key controlling your life. Here’s a list you never thought you needed to read:

1. Everyone’s not-so-best friend, procrastination
For some reason the to-do list keeps getting longer and longer. That my friend is our best friend making her comeback. Her name? Procrastination. It's like an invisible force that keeps you from doing what you should be doing. Scrolling through Instagram, watching Netflix, or rearranging your side table suddenly seem more appealing than that work you've been putting off for weeks.

2. You snooze, you lose
Oh, the joy and temptation of the snooze button! That extra 10 minutes of sleep feels like heaven, but it can highkey sabotage your mornings. You end up rushing through your morning routine, skipping breakfast, and then wondering why you're stressed all day. We all know why..

3. The never ending scroll system
Social media is like a black hole - once you’re sucked in, it might be hard to come back out. You start with the intention of checking your messages for just one minute, and before you know it, you're 3 hours deep in cat videos and memes. Time flies when you're mindlessly scrolling, and it's a habit that's tough to break, especially when another TikTok video or Instagram Reel is just a swipe away.

4. The fast food frenemy
Fast food is quick, convenient, and oh-so-delicious. But those frequent visits to the drive-thru and grab orders are taking a toll on your health and bank account. It's time to rethink those midnight McD runs and stop wondering why your balance is getting lesser.

5. The binge-watch Netflix guilt
Binge-watching shows until the wee hours might seem like a great way to unwind and make up for lost time that you missed out on, but it's messing with your sleep schedule. You’d think by staying up late, you could pick up on all the missed episodes but those dark circles under your eyes…? Don't scream Chanel.

6. The yes man
We want to be supportive friends, partners, and colleagues, but sometimes we say "yes" to everything. This leads to overcommitment, burnout, and regret. It's time to learn the power of saying "no" and setting boundaries.
