Join Schindler for a Spectacular Career!

By Jardine Schindler

From on-the-job training to mentorship by industry leaders, Schindler's Field Engineer Development Program is aimed at cultivating success.

Antah Schindler Malaysia is committed to provide an exciting platform for young talents to thrive in the sustainable vertical transportation sector within the urban mobility industry. Schindler elevators and escalators are safe, effective, and energy efficient as cities continues to expand upwards.

Our flagship Field Engineer Development Program (FEDP) has been successful in developing young talents into becoming future leaders. The aim of FEDP is to build a pool of field engineers skilled and competent in Schindler newer products and technologies and have all-rounded capabilities to support the New Installations (NI) and Existing Installations (EI) operations.

The FEDP is a two-year structured program with regular reviews and assessments. The FEDPs will rotate in both NI and EI business operations to acquire and develop technical skills and knowledge through on-the-job training. FEDPs are mentored and coached to learn the experiences from the fundamentals of the business through hands-on portfolios in NI business operations - installing new Schindler product line and later in EI business operations – maintaining and servicing the Schindler product portfolio.

Schindler practices the 70-20-10 approach towards learning and the on-the-job trainings are supplemented with classroom training where interactions between our qualified instructors with the FEDPs adds value through sharing of real-life experiences and completing Schindler targeted e-Learning modules on our extensive Learning Experience Platform (LXP) offers a more globalised view of the skill-sets necessary to be successful in the roles within Schindler.

Upon completing the two-year structured program, the FEDPs will graduate and become a permanent part of the wider Antah Schindler Malaysia team and will continue be part of the pool of talents with opportunities to further scale themselves in their engineering careers.

Meet our current FEDPs, Nur Fatihah binti Mat Ahir and Muhammad Haziq bin Mohd Zamri. Both are engineering graduates, started the FEDP in 2022 and are both enjoying their experiences with us.

What motivates me to join the FEDP?
It was known to me since in my degree days that I am in the male dominating field, with anticipation that this program will not be an easy journey for me. Despite the odds, I braced through the multiple interviews for the program. Hearing about the journey of the FEDP alumni is very intriguing, and it motivated me to challenge myself, especially to learn more about elevators. This program allows me to start from scratch and understand how different departments function. Despite being an outlier, I persist through the many challenges, always striving to improve every day.
- Nur Fatihah binti Mat Ahir, Field Engineer, FEDP

What will be my aspirations after completing the FEDP?
As a Field Engineer in this program, I am eager to soak up all the know-how and turn it into practical solutions. I want to be the guy who sort out problems, tosses in some cool ideas, and generally makes things work. With this, I aim to seamlessly integrate the acquired skills and knowledge into my professional practice, contribute to projects, sharing my insights and foster a collaborative environment.
- Muhammad Haziq bin Mohd Zamri, Field Engineer, FEDP
