Enter Synthomer’s Graduate Programme SynGP, which promises continuous learning, cross functional mentoring, leadership development and more

With all the management trainee programmes available across Corporate Malaysia, graduates and professionals in the early stages of their careers are spoilt for choice over the next best step to take in their career. Until they come across Synthomer’s Graduate Programme, SynGP, one of the most unique programmes that offer excellent career prospects and unique opportunities to work in different departments and environments in up to four rotations throughout two years.

First launched in 2017, SynGP looks to develop talent into future leaders that display exceptional business acumen, becoming an all-rounder in understanding the business while fast tracking them into managerial roles.

It gives young talent the opportunity to explore themselves and get involved in running one of the world’s largest supplier of aqueous polymers.

Upon being accepted into the programme, talent will be assigned to their respective tracks based on their university qualifications. The six tracks are Operations, Technical, Commercial, Procurement, Finance and Human Resources. What’s cool about SynGP is the fact that the programme isn’t a ‘one size fits all’. Instead, coordinators of the programme will work with each talent to identify their desired discipline and create a customised programme to help them grow professionally in the discipline!

Apart from the rotational assignments, talent can look forward to being mentored by Synthomer’s brightest minds, structured development and even opportunities for international assignments!

Once enrolled into the programme, talent can call themselves full time Synthomer employees! Upon completion of the 24-month long programme, talent will feel empowered in deciding their career path, understanding their passions and what they aspire to be from the exposure given to them from the programme.

The tasks undertaken throughout the programme will undoubtedly boost one’s confidence.

The steep learning curve presented will also spur the talent to gain the ability to drive results as they are exposed to a variety of different environments and tasks. The international workforce, teams, stakeholders and culture will aid talent in adapting to a multinational working culture, helping them adapt and succeed in future roles wherever in the world.

Hear it from Jack Tay, a SynGP alumni about the programme

The biggest plus for working in Synthomer is the people. I find the most important thing in any position, being a President or a technician, will be the people in the organisation.

Given the opportunity to take charge is also another plus point for most of my work in Synthomer. I love the opportunity to be given flexibility in performing my roles, providing a sense of ownership that motivates me to be fully responsible and dedicated to my work and results.

The requirements? A bachelor’s degree in any field, a minimum CGPA of 3.2, high distinction or a minimum 2:1 grading and excellent command in English. Recruiters at Synthomer also highly appreciate leadership qualities, teamwork, enthusiasm and adaptability.
