Stay Connected to Your Workmates Using These Apps!

Because social distancing…

For many of us, our involuntary work from home routine came as a surprise. One day you’re working on organising this new event while having lunch with your colleagues… and the next day you’re at home writing a report in your pyjamas ordering lunch from FoodPanda.

If you’re unprepared to work from home, you might find difficulties communicating with your colleagues and superiors. We’ve prepared a list of apps you can use to stay connected to the office anytime and anywhere!

WhatsApp
Most offices already have a WhatsApp group with smaller groups for different departments and even smaller groups for friendly non-work-related chit chat. Log into WhatsApp on your desktop and stay alert to any messages from your office.

Alternative: Telegram has recently gained popularity due to its strong emphasis on security and quality media sharing. Sending an image or video on Telegram does not downgrade the quality of the media!

Asana
Stay up to date with who does what and when through Asana, the app that allows you to assign tasks to a teammate and track their progress. Asana also acts as a to-do-list, giving you the ability to schedule tasks you want to get completed today, tomorrow or whenever!

Apart from general tasks, you can also create projects and assign the relevant teammates to sub-tasks, add descriptions, and also tag different teammates so they can be up to date with what’s going on.

Alternatives: Monday.com, Taskworld

Zoom
Taking conference calls to the next level, Zoom gives you the ability to conduct online meetings, conduct webinars with up to 10,000 registered attendees, instant messaging and many more.

Alternatives: Google Hangouts, Skype

Google Drive
File too big to send via email? Upload it on Google Drive and share it with your team using a simple link! It’s also perfect if you need to save more files on your computer but lack the space. Anyone with a Google account has up to 15GB of free cloud storage but users can easily purchase more space if they need to.

Alternatives: OneDrive, WeTransfer

Slack
Your entire workspace, online. Known as the smart alternative to email, initiate group discussions and private chats with your teammates and share information and files with ease.

Alternative: Microsoft Teams
