WHO WE ARE
RHB Banking Group is a multinational regional financial services provider that is committed to deliver complete solutions to customers through differentiated segment offerings and an ecosystem that supports simple, fast and seamless customer experiences, underpinned by a cohesive and inspired workforce and relationship built with stakeholders.
Ranked among the top banks in Malaysia and with a significant presence in ASEAN, RHB has strong market leadership in Malaysia across targeted products and segments. With employee strength of 14,000-plus employees group-wide, RHB’s presence spans across 9 countries in the ASEAN region and Hong Kong. RHB also has representative offices in Vietnam and Myanmar.
Our 14,000-plus employees in ASEAN contribute to the success and growth of RHB. We aim to build a workforce of the future that is equipped to meet the challenges posed by the fast evolving and disruptive marketplace. Our current focus is on strengthening our talent development initiatives and to continue to attract and retain the best talent, which supports RHB with its third strategic theme of FIT22, `Transform the Organisation’, focused on building a winning operating model that prioritises development of talent pool, agility, analytics, and digital enablement.
AGILE AS OUR WORK CULTURE
The Agile culture provides our employees with greater autonomy, better flexibility and higher employee engagement in the workplace. They are encouraged to exchange ideas and take full ownership over their work in an open, collaborative and high-performing environment. As a result, the Agile culture empowers employees to do what is needed in order to create superior customer-centric solutions with integrity and accountability. It also encourages a sustainable workforce of the future through the development of digital skillsets. This makes RHB the first bank in Southeast Asia to embrace the Agile way of working across the entire organisation.
At the core of our operating model are the Agile teams: - multi-disciplinary and autonomous teams built around distinct customer journeys in order to best serve the wants and needs of our customers. They are also the drivers of the ‘Workplace of the Future’, spearheading the new collaborative, empowered and purpose-driven working culture under Agile. In Q4 2018, we rolled-out the initial wave of AGILE@Scale to 4 teams. In 2019 and 2020, we will be undergoing a fundamental transformation in our operating model by rolling out Agile to the remaining parts of the bank, covering all customer journeys.
EMPLOYEE VALUE PROPOSITION
With a strong Employee Value Proposition, and Culture Components of One RHB, Results-oriented and Customer First in place, the Group is committed to building a highly productive, agile and engaged workforce to drive a high performance organisation. High impact initiatives such as employee engagement and health and wellness activities, and leadership and technical learning programmes, have been made available to future-proof employees while strengthening our learning culture.
In RHB, we understand that people are our greatest asset thus we have rolled-out Flexi-Work arrangement and Telecommuting. For working parents, this flexibility brings ease of mind to them as they now have time to prepare and send their children to child care centres or school before coming to work. Telecommuting is another option where back-office employees can apply to work away from office if there are urgent matters to be attended at home. Reiterating the importance of family to our employees, we have introduced another benefit to employees, 2 days compassionate Child Care leave for them to take care of their children if required.
Communication is key to success. In RHB, our leaders makes it a point to update our employees via Townhall meetings which is held every quarter. Keeping employees abreast with updates of the organization and realigning the team to meet our common goals are crucial to ensure the sustainability of the organization. There are also periodical chat sessions between our Group Managing Director with our talents to brainstorm ideas and collect feedback from the ground. This is to ensure fine-tuning of the organization is carried out precisely.
With the objective of improving communication and collaboration across the organization, increased agility and to embrace Digital Transformation towards a progressive and forward looking organization, RHB has introduced Workplace by Facebook to engage employees in August 2017. A believer in diversity, RHB used this tool for communicating for all levels within RHB to promote updates and information sharing among employees not only in Malaysia but in other countries where RHB has a presence. Workplace by Facebook has put connectivity at the fingertips of our people.
We are the first bank in Malaysia to roll out Workplace as an additional engagement tool. We currently have 12,500 employees who use Workplace or have claimed their account on Workplace.
We offer accelerated growth and progression, with focus on a continuous learning experience coupled with regional mobility for a holistic experience via our comprehensive talent management practices. As a multinational employer, we are responsible for the professional growth of our employees. Our employee training and educational initiatives are intended to prepare employees to face the challenges of the workplace and provide the space for them to achieve their individual aspirations.
We reward competitively through a robust pay-for-performance policy that is benchmarked against the industry. Through our enhanced Performance Management system with differentiated rewards, we have implemented a structured rewards policy based on a High Performance Culture concept and we will continue to review compensation and benefits to remain competitive. Besides rewarding based on Key Performance Indicator, we also appreciate employees during our annual dinner where categories of best employee’s awards were given out based on nomination and recognition of contribution by their superiors, peers and co-workers.
