Associate Economist, Structural Economic Analysis (Commodities) | Economics Department

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To provide in depth surveillance of the primary sectors and continuously improving the monitoring process to ensure the delivery of rigorous, timely and relevant economic assessment and forecast of the sector to primarily support the Bank’s monetary policy decision-making process.
• To undertake research and strategic studies on longer-term structural issues, particularly on the primary sector, as well as on other areas relevant to the sustainability of economic growth and concerns related to monetary, fiscal and financial policies.
• To draft well-written research papers and other publications for dissemination of research findings internally as well as to the public and assist in drafting policy recommendations based on issues uncovered from research findings.
• To participate in collaborations with internal as well as external stakeholders to improve overall surveillance and research capacity.
• To participate in inter-agency Government meetings to provide the Bank’s views on sectoral trends and policy issues.
• To assist in preparing speeches, comments and presentations on sector-specific areas, and on findings of research for the Management.

• Academic Qualifications:

1. Degree or Masters in Economics
2. SPM with credits in BM, English and Maths with 2 other subjects

• Experience:

1. 2-3 years working experience in Economics and Financial Sector would be an advantage
