Inspiring Inclusion for the Next Generation
As we gear up to celebrate International Women's Day (IWD) this year, its theme ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ couldn't be more relevant, especially for the vibrant community of young women around the globe. In an era where inclusivity is not just a buzzword but a crucial part for progress, the voices and experiences of women are more vital than ever.
‘Inspiring Inclusion’ speaks directly to the aspirations and challenges of today's young women, who are navigating an evolving world with determination and resilience. It's about creating spaces where their voices are not just heard but celebrated and where diversity is embraced. Not to forget, where opportunities arise regardless of background or identity.
To know more on what ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ means to them, we asked three inspiring young women who are making their own mark in different fields:
Mira, Social Media Influencer
"For me, ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ is all about breaking stereotypes and amplifying diverse voices in the digital space. As a young woman from a big city, I've often felt the pressure to conform to certain beauty standards or narratives. But through my platform, I strive to celebrate diversity and be the best in my own expertise according to my own standards. Inclusion means creating a space where every young woman feels seen, heard, and valued for who she is, regardless of where you’re from.
Aisha, Software Developer
"As a woman in tech, ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ is about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. In Malaysia's tech industry, women and minorities are often sidelined, but through initiatives like coding workshops and mentorship programmes, I strive to promote inclusivity and diversity. With a culture of belonging and support, we can empower the next generation of Malaysian tech talents to thrive and succeed."
Veen, Digital Marketer
"Challenging patriarchal norms and advocating for gender equality in Malaysia is my type of ‘Inspiring Inclusion’. As a digital marketer, I leverage social media platforms to raise awareness about issues affecting women and girls in our society. Whether it's promoting menstrual hygiene education or campaigning against gender-based violence, I believe in the power of inclusive activism."
Let us draw inspiration from these young role models and commit ourselves to fostering inclusion in all aspects of our lives. By embracing diversity, challenging stereotypes, and putting the marginalised voices on blast, we can pave the way for a brighter future for all. Together, let us inspire inclusion and empower the next generation of women to dream big and change the world.
