Step away from your office desk and step into Mother Nature
Bored of your same-old jog around the park? Why not have a change of scenery and take up hiking instead? It’s a fun activity you can enjoy with your friends and colleagues. Plus, taking a selfie on the top of a hill is 100 per cent insta-worthy!
Luckily for us, Klang Valley is filled with a number of hiking trails waiting for you to explore. Pack a water bottle and a change of clothes because you're gonna get dirty – and muddy – at the end of your hike.
Here are some popular spots
Broga Hill
Among the most popular hiking trails in Klang Valley, Broga Hill welcomes hundreds of hikers every day and is only a 50-minute-drive from the KL City Centre. The peak of Broga measures 400m and takes about an hour to reach the peak. Considered an easy hike for most hikers, beginners may find Broga to be a slight challenge. The only way to find out is to try it yourself!
Fun fact: the 2016 local hit film Ola Bola featured Broga Hill in one of their training scenes.
Denai Tiga Puteri
Located in Kota Damansara, the Denai Tiga Puteri hiking trail starts at the Kota Damansara Community Forest Reserve and the peak, which measures slightly over 300m in height, oversees the NKVE. A very instagrammable spot you’ll need to pay for in calories burnt! This popular hiking destination has sufficient signage to ensure that you know where you’re going. Register at the Forest Reserve office before embarking on your hike and don’t forget to have fun!
Lepoh Hill
What separates Lepoh from most of the other hiking trails on this list is the Lepoh trail is more suitable for intermediate hikers. The 4km hike up to the peak will take slightly over two hours but it’ll all be worth it once you get up there as a lovely waterfall awaits!
FRIM
FRIM’s hiking routes are suitable for hikers of all ages and physical conditions. The tracks don’t take any longer than 45 minutes so you can enjoy the weekend hike without having to shed that much sweat (or tears).
Saga Hill
Saga Hill, located in Ampang/Cheras, is rated by hikers as a slightly more advanced trail. An estimate of about 5km to get to the peak, the hike up is made even more special when hikers find a waterfall at the top.! Sit back and relax in the soothing waters before making your way back down.
Puchong Hill
A lesser-known hiking trail located at the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve, going up to the peak – which measures at about 230m in height – will take two to three hours. Don’t worry, it’s still a pretty easy hike up. There are two entry points that eventually lead to the same open area at the peak. Just like Saga and Lepoh, there is a waterfall near the peak but visitors will need to apply for a pass to gain access.
