This Malaysia Day, we asked you how our beloved nation is an inspiration.

Malaysia Day is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s a celebration of a nation where diversity blooms, opportunities arise, and the new generation is thriving. One of the things that make Malaysia so special is the unity in diversity. With a rich silhouette of cultures, languages, and traditions, Malaysians have embraced their differences and turned them into a source of strength not to mention inspiration! This inclusivity extends to the workplace, making it a welcoming environment for expatriates and locals alike.

In this digital age, Malaysia is also proving to be a land of endless possibilities for young professionals. From tech to entrepreneurship, from art to nature, Malaysia has something for everyone. We talked to a few of you who share why you love working in Malaysia.

Alia, a tech-savvy millennial, moved to Malaysia after studying in the United States to work in the thriving tech scene. She says, “Malaysia is rich in culture, and this diversity is seen in the industry I’m in. I’ve met people from all over the world working here under one roof. Plus, the food is amazing!”

Young entrepreneur Irwin chose his homeland as the base for his very own business. His reason for doing so? “The initiatives to support startups are fantastic. From grants to supportive environments, Malaysia is a great place for young entrepreneurs.”

Imran couldn't be happier in Malaysia, especially in his job as a food blogger. “Malaysia is a food lover’s paradise. Let’s not forget the street food culture.. so amazing! The variety of cuisines and flavors here is unmatched.”

Artist Syed finds Malaysia to be an inspiring place for his creativity. “Some may not know this but the art scene in Malaysia is looking good. The support for local artists is incredible, and there are events happening all the time. It’s the perfect place for me to grow as an artist, especially in Kuala Lumpur.”

Executive Teng shares that because Malaysians are generally very accepting of different cultures, she’s learnt a lot from her colleagues despite being just under a year at her new role. “What I love is that everyone is open to ideas and we support one another, whether it is within our job scope or not. I always look forward to spending time with my colleagues outside of work - we all get along despite our differences and it really feels like we’ve known each other for ages. Instead of feeling like we’re competing against one another, it just feels like we are there for each other.”
