Here’s what you missed at the GRADUAN Career Events last week!

Get the scoop on what happened at The Malaysian Career Fair and US Career Networking Fair.

It’s not often that GRADUAN hosts a double-header career initiative but with the success of the GRADUAN Global Virtual Career Fair last year, we decided to follow up on that event with yet another double header!

First up, GRADUAN’s flagship Malaysian Career Fair hit its 17th year running last 26 to 28 March!

Following that, the US Career Networking Fair took place on 1 April for Malaysians in the United States to explore career opportunities, meet and engage with leading employers, and potentially land meaningful careers with leading Malaysian employers.

Fun fact: GRADUAN is no stranger to the United States, having held a career initiative back in 2010.

Here’s what happened at both.

THE VIRTUAL MALAYSIAN CAREER FAIR
2021 marks the second year GRADUAN® hosted a virtual edition of its flagship UK Fair. Over the three-day initiative, we received over 2,100 registrants from talent across various universities in the UK including the London School of Economics, The University of Edinburgh, Imperial College London and The University of Leeds among many others.

The fair officially kicked off on 27 March, the day after the Corporate Luncheon (CL) reserved for 100 top performing Malaysian talent in the UK. CL is GRADUAN®’s exclusive networking session giving Malaysia’s best talent in the UK a chance to get up close with employers through engaging forums, breakout sessions, speed networking sessions, and our first ever Apprentice Pitch where selected talent got the chance to pitch themselves to a panel of nine employers including Maybank, KPMG, Nestle and Samsung on why they should be their apprentice of choice. If employers like what they hear, career opportunities will be up for grabs.

Apart from the over 2,100 talent registered, employers held over 150 virtual interviews! As for the number of visitors for our career fair, over 101,000 including talent and employers across the world joined us for the initiative, putting GRADUAN on the world map of virtual event hosting.

US CAREER NETWORKING FAIR
The inaugural virtual career engagement tailored for Malaysian talent in the US attracted over 20,000 page views throughout April 1 – yes, it’s no joke! The ceremony was officiated by Mohd Faisal Tan Mutallib, Education Attaché at Education Malaysia in Washington DC, followed by the first forum of the day titled Branding Yourself in an Evolving Career Market with representatives from Bank Negara Malaysia, CIMB, KPMG and Samsung.

Maybank, Nestlé and Bank Islam then claimed the virtual floor in the next forum as panellists discussed internships and career placements remotely before the TULIPS Movement of Malaysia drew the curtains on a meaningful and engaging day for Malaysians in the United States looking to start their career back in Malaysia!

Next up on GRADUAN®’s calendar is the biggest career fair in Malaysia, GRADUAN Aspire happening this 9 to 11 July!
