Put your courage to the test this Halloween.

It’s October. The pumpkin spice latte is back in Starbucks. Costume stores are busy. Malls are filled with skeletons, carved pumpkins, witches, bats and spiders… yup, Halloween season is definitely here.

It’s not a very Malaysian culture to go out the night of 30 October and knock on people’s door for some trick or treating. But that doesn't mean we can't have our fair share of scary fun this month! Here are some scary events you can go to with your friends and family to get into the Halloween spirit.

The Conjuring Universe Tour
As you walk through this immersive horror experience, you will see spine-chilling set recreations inspired by iconic scenes from the massively popular horror franchise, including The Conjuring films, the Annabelle films, and The Nun. This tour brings you an interactive journey full of creepy surprises. If you’re a true fan of said horror films, you’d definitely find a lot of easter eggs. Oh, you can also get exclusive merchandise at the retail shop!

This horror experience will go on until 19 November 2023 at The Curve Shopping Mall, Mutiara Damansara. Get your tickets here.

Junji Ito Horror House
Another immersive horror that will awaken your fear this spooky month. According to the website, it’s “an experience that is not for the faint of heart”. For those in the dark (get it?), Junji Ito is an award-winning Japanese horror manga artist particularly known for his Tomie series (an immortal girl who drives her admirers literally to crazy in love!). This horror house experience uses Ito's unique and treacherous world to create an immersive experience in all aspects. If you’re brave enough, try and go through both halls or dare to test your bravery by just choosing one. But as you enter the horror house, be prepared to feel the panic of darkness, rising heartbeat, and chilling screams!

Happening right now at Lalaport BBCC until 30 November 2023. Get your tickets here.

Sunway Lagoon’s Nights of Fright 9
Malaysia’s biggest and scariest festival of fear is back again this year! Brace yourself for a series of several nights filled with spine-tingling frights, bone-chilling scares, and gutless screams. Bring your friends and get ready to experience the adrenaline rush as you come face to face with your deepest fears. Tip: Get the express pass so you won’t waste time queueing up for rides and other attractions. Tickets available here.

Hauntu
Ever want to feel like you’re in a horror movie? Not sure if anyone would want to experience that, but if you think you’re up for it, try going to Hauntu, Malaysia’s first immersive horror experience! If you want to see paranormal activities, rituals, ghosts and demons set in a haunted hotel, go to Hauntu at The Linc KL. Alternatively, if you’d rather witness horror involving dark magic, witchcraft, scary creatures, and an insidious folklore in a mystical dance academy, then Hauntu at The Curve is the place for you.

Experience real fear when you’re locked in a scary place and solve a series of riddles, puzzles, and clues in order to find your way out of the room before the time runs out. It’s a great way to bond with a group of friends if you ask me!
