With over 220,000 Citibankers across the world in over 95 countries, Citi continues to push the boundaries through its distinct global network of people, data, and relationships. Citi looks for ways to create a mind-set that allows it to spot opportunities, manage risks and connect dots for clients in ways that others simply cannot. To achieve this, globally, Citi has continued to strengthen its build of talent across segments from experienced professionals to fresh graduates.
In Malaysia, Citi’s footprint spans across products, services and locations. Citi has been present in Malaysia since 1959, offering consumers, corporations and institutions with solutions that help power their lives and businesses. As one of the global financial leaders in Malaysia, Citi has continued to expand its reach with the Citi Solutions Center, a world class global processing center, in Penang in 1993 followed by Kuala Lumpur in 2007. Today, Citi has over 5,000 employees in Malaysia and continues to grow. In 2021, Citi Malaysia on boarded over 750 new employees, 160 of which were fresh graduates across multiple roles/ programs.
To build its talent bench-strength, Citi continues to seek talents from different levels to bring the organization to greater heights. Citi also provides a great platform for growth, development and learning through challenging roles, mobility across Citi’s businesses and programs that help set the foundation for our people.
Raymond Lim, who heads the Commercial Banking business at Citi Malaysia, believes that through the changing business models and market conditions, learning never stops at Citi. “Any graduate who wants to kickstart their career at Citi, must keep themselves well-informed of global affairs and have an open mind when it comes to new ideas and challenges”, said Raymond as he hosted the Summer Analyst Class of 2022.
Apart from the Analyst Program, Citi Malaysia also offers opportunities for fresh graduates to join its various businesses directly after graduation. Citi’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) hub in Malaysia is one of the departments. AML protects Citi, its clients, and the financial system from being used to facilitate money laundering and terrorist financing through a robust program focused on the prevention, detection and reporting in relation with applicable AML laws and regulations.
Ewa Piasecka, who heads the AML Hub in Asia Pacific (with the largest footprint in Kuala Lumpur) is a strong believer in continuously developing and growing talent from within the organization. “Being part of the AML functions means you become part of a network of more than 1,000 AML specialists. Here, you can leverage the unique professional expertise when it comes to fighting financial crime. Your career within the AML business can move across different segments, from Fraud Investigation to Data Analytics and Modelling”, said Ewa.
