2023 Halfway Done and Dusted!

By Hannah Dania

Ticked most of your resolutions for 2023? Now it’s time for full steam ahead for the rest of the year.

For some of us, the first half of the year has been a rollercoaster ride filled with valuable lessons and experiences that the second half should take note of. If you had a great first half, keep it up and make the next six months better than before. Didn’t quite accomplish what you wanted? Keep your head up and continue pressing on - you still have six months to make your goals happen!

With half of 2023 done, it’s not time to rest and reflect. If anything, it’s time to push forward and make the rest of the year even better. Crush those goals, follow your passions, and spread positivity like there’s no tomorrow. But don’t forget to look out for yourself and stay connected to your loved ones.

Here are some tips on how you can tackle August till December like a champ yet maintain balance in it all.

1. Set Some Goals, But Keep It Real
Good job if you’ve met all your goals for 2023; why not see what else you can accomplish? While it's great to dream big (be a millionaire, travel the world in six months), let's be real when goal setting. Set those that are challenging yet achievable and make sure they're specific, measurable, and time-bound. This way, you'll have a roadmap to follow and can celebrate your wins along the way.

2. Embrace the Art of Mindfulness
In trying to accomplish what you want for the rest of the year, it's easy to get caught up in the constant buzz of notifications, never-ending to-do lists, and basically just trying to keep up. Take a breather, my friend! Practise mindfulness to find your Zen amidst all that go-getting. Whether it's through meditation, journaling, or simply taking a walk in nature, make time for yourself to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with your inner peace. This will allow you to set a clear path day to day - without bearing the weight of the past.

3. Prioritise Self-Care
Self-care is not just a buzzword; it's a necessity. Make self-care a priority in the next half of the year, especially if you’ve done really well for the earlier part of the year! Take a bubble bath, indulge in a face mask, or have a Netflix marathon in your comfiest PJs. Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup, so take care of yourself first.

4. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Feeling blah already and it’s only July? It’s time to break free from the monotony and try something new. Sign up for that spin class, join a book club, or plan a spontaneous road trip with your besties. Embrace the unknown and watch your confidence soar. You might even be inspired to do something big with your life!

5. Build Meaningful Connections
In the hustle of trying to accomplish our goals, we sometimes forget the important things along the way - like our relationships with friends and family. For the second half of 2023, why not make lasting memories with your loved ones a goal? Plan outings, have heart-to-heart conversations.

6. Embrace Failure and Learn from It
Don’t be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. So what if the earlier part of the year was met with a lot of rejection and fails? Embrace them as a learning opportunity. Learn from your experiences, adjust your strategies, and keep moving forward. It’s all part of the journey.
