We guarantee that this will always happen as your job interview comes to a close: “Do you have any questions for me?” the recruiter will ask. It’s not a trick question but saying no could show that you’re not interested to know more about the job or the company, sending the wrong message to the recruiter therefore decreasing your chance of being hired.
Plus, asking questions can give you the opportunity to further highlight why you’re the best match. Also, it’s a great way to find out more so you can make an informed decision should you be given the job.

This is how you can learn as much as possible about the role so you can decide if it is a right fit for you. Plus, it gives you insight on what’s expected of you and what skills and strengths are needed to survive your first six months on the job.
#2 What’s the company culture like?
The answer will help you determine if you’re a good fit for this organisation, whether you’re comfortable with its culture and dynamic.
#3 What do you like best about working for this company?
A great question to get a personal take on what it’s really like to work for the company! Asking your interviewer’s experience will give you an insider view of the company’s culture.
#4 What is the typical career path for someone in this role?
This can help you learn what your prospects are in the company and whether the company values talent from within. It also shows that you’re interested in growing with the organisation, which is a great impression to make during the interview.
#5 What sort of opportunities or growth will the company be looking towards in the next five years?
This question can help you learn what the company’s targets are for the future and how you can grow along with the company by utilising your skills to meet these targets.
#6 What is the next step after this interview/When will I hear from you/If I get the job, how soon am I expected to start?
Think of questions pertaining to the job itself – whether another round of interview is required, when will you hear from the recruiter, when will you start – the ones that show that you’re really serious about the job and eager to move forward. Plus, it gives you info on the timeline for hiring so you can follow up appropriately.
Be careful though – don’t ask questions like “Did I get the job, What is the bonus like, Will I get a raise after promotion?” These are questions that jump the gun! You can ask all of these when you’re in the final steps of the interview process to negotiate your salary and benefits.
